TechnoServe South Africa has a highly qualified team of 14 staff based across South Africa, with its head office in Johannesburg, Gauteng

Senior management:

Earl Sampson; TechnoServe SA Country Director

Earl is a seasoned business professional with a diverse range of international senior executive and board level experience.

He is able to analyse and understand complex issues quickly and act to turn-around businesses; making immediate improvements in profitability, leadership and people transformation.

After 19 years with Shell Oil internationally, he has vast experience in sales, marketing,
strategy consultancy, change management and general management. He was COO at CenAm and prior to that was Commercial Fuels Manager for Shell Southern Africa.

He is a sound negotiator with a strong profitability and customer focus. Earl has a proven ability to influence and lead employees as well as other stakeholders.

Mandla Nkomo; Programme Manager - Agribusiness & Food Security

Mandla is an agribusiness executive with over 10 years experience in establishing agribusinesses and facilitating market linkages between established commercial entities and rural communities.

At TechnoServe South Africa, Mandla is responsible for the agribusiness and food security strategy development. He is also an AfterCare business advisor providing entrepreneurial support and advice to graduate trainees of the Believe Begin Become programme.

Previously a consultant with Buyisa Agricultural Development Corporation and an executive at Khomanani Agribusiness, he has been a facilitator in the land reform space. In 2006 and 2007, he undertook a comprehensive agroprocessing study as part of a team of consultants for the Mpumalanga Provincial Government. Between 2005 and 2006 he was lead agribusiness consultant on behalf of the Matabeleland Zambezi Water Project, in Bulawayo Zimbabwe. He remains a trustee of the Khula Sizwe trust that operates in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Mozambique focusing on the development of market linkages between commercial agricultural entities and rural small-scale farmers.

8 Sekoati Pitso; Programme Manager – Entrepreneurship Development

Sekoati joined TechnoServe as a business advisor in March 2006 after running his own business for five years. During that time he managed the Shell LiveWIRE South Africa programme; a programme stimulating interest in entrepreneurship.  He also spent three years recruiting, interviewing, selecting and training franchisees on behalf of Exel Petroleum.

He gained much of his experience with the Wits Centre for Developing Business as a Business Programme Co-ordinator.

“My biggest challenge has been to work as the Support Services Manager for the Truth Commission in Gauteng.” says Sekoati.
