Mangweni Diary

Mangweni Dairy Co-op is based in the Nkomazi District of Mpumalanga. Although originally engaged in dairy farming, the Cooperative now consists of a registered membership of 12 with access to 139 hectares of land to cultivate sugarcane. The Co-op intends to develop the land in a phased approach starting with 70 hectares.

TechnoServe will continue to support Mangweni Dairy Co-op through various activities over a three-to-four year period. TechnoServe has a leading role in developing and refining the business plan and financial model for the co-op and will help secure project financing from various public and private sources. TechnoServe provides a shadow farm manager to support the farm management. The National Developing Agency has committed R1 008 180 to help the co-op to revitalize the sugarcane farming activities.
